Langkawi Trip - Day 2,3

Continued from my last post here..

I totally underestimated the power of cameras and 1500+ photos!!
I took so long to just filter and PP the photos..
Lotsa time wasted, but yet worthwhile *I hope*

On the second day of our trip, we woke up early in the morning because we had booked an island hopping trip at 9am..
We thought we were going snorkeling too therefore did not bring our cameras along..
*Not even the Lumix*
And we sure regretted that we didn't!!!
*Damn!!!!*

Island hopping: We booked a boat to send us to 3 places..
1st - A lake in an island (Legends says that the water boost female fertility)
2nd - Eagle feeding
3rd - Beach *pointless*

The trip was okay..Cost us RM240 for 7 people..
Those who planned to go to Langkawi might wanna try it but be careful..
We got conned by a shitty ass guy..
There are many people there soliciting the trip but I still think its best to get it from the hotel counter..
No doubt you can't bargain the price and it'll be a lil pricey but your money spent will be well worthwhile..

After the trip, we went back to bath..
While the others were bathing, some of us went to the beach and play..
There were 3 kids (possibly japanese) who stole Ivy's heart!!

Then, we went for the cable car trip..
The cable car is said to be the tallest in South East Asia..
It is a worthwhile trip and you only have to pay RM15 each!!

The place was superb!!
600+ metres above sea level!!!!
The mist was too thick on the day we went..
Couldn't see anything but yet again, it didn't stop us from camwhoring!!

After the cable car ride, we went down and hangout at Oriental Park..

Because I was too hungry to and BeiLynn as well as Grace texted me that time..
So I sat aside while they were busy snapping photos..haha!!

It was finally time for dinner!!
Don't know why but I crave for japanese..
We didn't have japanese ler because its gonna be expensive and pretty common..
So we went to a western food place *Sounds pretty common huh??* in Kuah town..

This place is quite special..
It really looks like an authentic western restaurant where you get really old and cool stuff there..
The boss is a really nice old man..Funny too!!
We wanted to have a group photo with the boss we well but too bad he left the place before we can ask him..
So no photo of the nice old man but plenty of us!!

After that its back to the hotel and chat..
But I slept really early..

Its Valentine's Eve and our last day in Langkawi..
Didn't really snap lotsa photos because we were busy buying souvenirs back home..

After purchasing everything and spending loadsa money, we finally head home!!

Langkawi Trip - Day 1

Finally started blogging about the trip..
Why did I take so long?
Its because I have a total of 1500+ photos to go through, filter, PP(Post Processing), Upload then blog..
*Obviously I'm not going to upload all the photos..its gonna take 30 Facebook albums to do so..*
Oh well, That is what you get for having 3 DSLR(2 Nikon, 1 Sony) and another compact camera(Panasonic Lumix) with you..

Okay, 1st lets start with WHY Feb 11, 2009???
The initial plan was to go on Feb 16 - 19..
Feb 16 - Penang to look for Cherlene
Feb 17, 18, 19 - Langkawi

Not long after we got the dates confirmed *Right before our final paper* I called my mom and she told me that my dad and her will be going to Hainan, China from Feb 14 *Valentine's Day* till Feb 19 *The day I was supposed to be driving back from Langkawi*
I have to stay in Sg Buloh to take care of my sister and the office..
OMG!!!!!
Our plan was screwed in less than 6 hours after confirming!!!!
After that, we went on Feb 11 because Yean Ree can't join us if we're going on Feb 22..

So, plans were screwed and hence the last minute trip..
Since there were too many photos, I'm gonna split this trip into 2 post..

This trip was supposed to be joined by a number of people..
Attendees: Me, Andrew, Vyen, Peywen, Yeanree, Ivy, Sum
Absentees: Stef, Yvette, Meimun, Winnie*not yinli*, SiewLing, JongKheng, Suxin, Minghong

Since there are only 7 of us, I borrowed my dad's Toyota Estima for the trip so that we can save on petrol and toll.
We started our journey before dawn because we're afraid that we'll miss the last ferry and hotels are fully booked..

3:30am - Makan at Bintang Tujuh *the mamak near my condo*
4:00am - Start our journey..

The journey took us about 4hours *if i'm not mistaken*
Its a long long journey and everyone is tired..
So..

After driving a few hours passing Kampar, Ipoh, Taiping, Juru, we finally reached our 1st destination Kuala Kedah!!!

After driving in a never-been-before place *with the help of GPS* we saw a life saving road sign..

While driving on the road, I spotted something strange..

Since when Stargate SG-1 was filmed in Malaysia??
For those you don't know, Stargate is a Sci-Fi hit series..

Upon arriving at the Kuala Kedah jetty, we parked our car and bought the ferry tickets..


Parking: RM15 x 3days = RM45
Ferry: RM23 x 7people = RM161

Right after we bought the tickets, we had to quickly board the ferry as its gonna leave the jetty very very soon!!

After over an hour's ride, we reached Langkawi jetty..

When we reached, we were welcomed by a lot of car rental agents..
They escorted us to their counter and explain the prices etc..
But only 1 person needs to hear right??
So the rest camwhored..

After we've gotten our car, we head to the apartment that I planned to stay..

Munster sent me the link to the website and it looks good, its facilities also looks good..

Not too bad right??
Too bad the view of the surrounding ruins the whole place..
All you get to see is abandoned buildings and NO SEA!!!!
So we left to look for another place to stay with a nice view..
Then we head towards the shores and ended up in Langkasuka *Where Munster will be staying*
Ivy said the place is haunted and one of her relative heard footsteps in the room..
At first we didn't plan to stay there but once we saw the place, FUIYOH!! Its so beautiful so we decided to get a place there..Even if its haunted..

Alas!! No room for that night, but got room for the following night..
After discussing with my friends, we concluded that staying in 2 places in 2 nights is too troublesome, so off to the next place!!!
After searching for some time, we reached Langgura Baron Resort..
It is considerable cheap with a beach too!!
So we decided to stay there, whee!!

Oh, if you're wondering if we rented the Mazda..
No we didn't..It'd be nice if we could afford it!!
Instead, we rented this..

As you can see, its a pretty old van *cheap mah!!* and 110kmph is its FASTEST!!!
Normally we only travel at 60kmph..
Haha but thats what you get for a cheap car right??

Car rental: RM220 for 3 days
Nonetheless we had fun even in the van..

After resting and bathing, we head to town for lunch..
And we bumped into another group of friends..
Then we had lunch together ler but in different tables because there were too many people..



After lunch we walked around while checking the prices for duty free stuff..
And I ended up buying a pair of spec *Just for fun*
Then, we head to eagle square!!
Upon reaching there, we did our favourite shot..Jump shot!!!

Andrew, Ivy, and I were busy snapping here and there with our DSLRs..
Vyen, Sum, and Yeanree played with the Panasonic Lumix..
So what did Peywen do??
She became our talent..

At one point, I started showing people that different specs can bring out different characteristics of a person..

I don't know how to describe them, and don't know which country they came from..
I even question their gender..haha!!

I learned something new about my camera that day..
Changing your camera's white balance to "shade" really brings out the flavour in sunset shots!!

This time we went to the nearest restaurant we can find..
We ordered quite a lot of dishes *I don't know why* and we didn't manage to finish all..
